I am Abigail Browde. I make all kinds of plays and performances. This is my website.
My work is made upon the premise of misunderstanding. I work with elements, sources and ideas that are beyond me -- things that I don't understand. I create theater out of a mismatch of ideas, relying on contradictions and clashes of style and structure. I aim for theatrical events that exist in the overlap of worlds - performative Venn diagrams.
I strive to make theater that will look you in the eye.
I have been creating original performance since 2004. I have shown my work at the Catch! Series, WAX/The Bridge, The Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX), Dixon Place, Tricklock Performance Space, Red Humor Salon, JMTW/Hatch, Minnesota Fringe, The Performance Project @ the University Settlement, and Chicago's Single File Festival of Solo Performance.
Additionally, I am a core company member of Witness Relocation Company, with whom I tour internationally, and with whom I received a 2007 Innovative Theater Award. I am a contributor to SuperGroup, a Minneapolis-based performance group, and I am the co-creator (with Kate Wilson) of ISABELLAPOUDRADOR.COM, a web-based video series.
Currently, I am a Theater Artist-in-Residence at The Brooklyn Arts Exchange.
